It's over!

My husband has been working on a project the past couple of weeks and he's pretty much come home only to sleep. Isn't that ridiculous? Yes, I think so, too. Well, after working a 23 hour shift, he was able to present it to his boss this morning. woohoo, we get our husband and daddy back home!

In sewing news, I made the Amy Butler Sling Tote over the weekend. It was very quick and easy to sew after I cut out the hundred pieces and ironed on the interfacing on every piece. I think I'm am going to send this off to my partner for the tote bag swap. Above is a picture of the inside, it has 3 pockets, and here is a close-up of the fabric ....

Okay, I think this picture has convinced me to start my weight watchers back up. Beware, wide load below:

And a few more ....

We saw a Raptor show - here's the kids with a rescued Bald Eagle. Someone shot it out of its nest and they had to amputate its wing. Isn't that sad?
This part of Rock City gives me the eebie jeebies. I don't understand why anyone would want to go stand out on that little stand thing. Beautiful, but scary.

Lookout Mountain

The girls got their faces painted at Rock City like butterflies. They looked so cute! Did I tell you my niece went with us? She helped with the kids and driving - she does pretty good at driving the "bus". Here she is about to go through Fat Man's Squeeze.

Everyone except me enjoyed going over the swinging bridge. I pretty much ran across, which I think might have made it swing worse.

We enjoyed Rock City more than Ruby Falls. All in all it was a FUN day!

love this one....

Do you see what was on the major highway? Yes, it's a horse and buggy riding along with everyone else to go shopping. I love it!

pictures

Here a few pictures of my trip to visit my friend ...... F will be mad at me for putting this picture (she had not showered yet --ewwww), but it is the only one we got of us together.

We saw a lot of farms, here's a picture of a field of goats.

We saw Amish! I snapped a picture without this family realizing it. Is that bad?
Nate played checkers with strangers .... life seemed more layed back in the town of Shepsewana, IN.

We went to the Fort Wayne Botonical Gardens. It was crazy hectic with a lot of people because it was family day. I lost my daughter and my purse, but found both again!

Long time, no post ...

I woke up this past Monday morning and said to myself, "Self, I think I'll drive to Indiana today and visit with my bossom friend." And so I did.

I'm home now, but tired and spent the day with my wonderful husband. So tomorrow I will post pictures of our adventure. I finally got to see Amish farms!!!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday!

Happy 7th birthday, Chuck! I realized right before cake time that I didn't have any birthday candles, so he got to blow out 7 votives - hehe.

It was still morning when we had the cake, so everyone's hair is still all over the place. He wanted cake for breakfast, so that's what we had!

The cake gets a thumb's up approval. It looks kind of gross, but it was actually a delicious cake. It was a layer of Fat Boy ice cream sandwiches ... then I mixed hot fudge sauce with cool whip and spread that on top - then another layer of sandwiches and another layer of the cool whip mixture. Then I crumbled a Twix bar on top. Yum! Here's a close up.

We went to the movies to see Meet Dave this afternoon and now everyone is resting. We'll get celebrating more once Derek comes home this evening. Chuck wants to go to IHOP for supper for his birthday dinner. Last year it was peanut butter and apple butter sandwiches, so were advancing.

Things that make you go, "awwwwww"

I heard a racket in the living room yesterday. I went in to see Red leading the other two in a wonderful song of "Teach Me What is Right, Oh God". They even all had their own sheet music. If you look at the picture bigger, you'll see she's leading out of Debussy's Clair De Lune - upside down.

Then Johnny lead them all in "We All Live in a Yellow Submarine". It was so stinking cute! I wish you could have all been here to hear and see them!

Early Evening Gown GIVEAWAY!!!!!!!

Early Evening Gown GIVEAWAY!!!!!!!

Yes, I want this dress for Molly! I don't know how this lady makes all these clothes and GIVES them away!

A new skirt

I made a skirt this afternoon to wear to church tonight. I got the Sew What Skirts book a couple of weeks ago and couldn't wait to try something out of it. This is the A-line skirt with a drawstring. Next time, I'll definitely do an A-line with a zipper because I don't think the bunched up look looks good on me.

Close up of the fabric. I bought this at JoAnn's last weekend for 60% off! It's got little sequins throughout.

yummmmmmmmmmm

I love what you can find on blogs! Look at the recipe I found here. Of course, mine do not look near as scrumptious as hers do. But they never do when you make something yourself, do they? They were so good and BUTTERY! I was worried I didn't make enough, but they were so rich and filling that everyone was satisfied with one.

Look what "we" bought today .....

And by "we", I mean "he". Ain't it purdy? It was left in my Mom and Dad's garage, because you're not allowed to drive in the dark without a motorcycle license. So tomorrow we'll go pick it up and bring it home .... I'll have better pictures so you can see it in all its shiny goodness in the daylight.

Speaking of motorcycles .... I have a gold tooth from running a motorcycle off the road when I was 18. So I'm not so sure I'll be getting on the back of this thing until I know hubby is good and trustworthy.

New book ...

Lookie what I got in the mail today! I've been wanting this book since it came and can't wait to delve into tonight after church. And isn't this a cutie that's posing with it? I could just eat her up!
