Ya know .....
She does look a lot like Tinkerbell. And on a brighter note, at least her nose is finally healing! A friend's husbands said today, "At least she didn't lose a digit ... hair will grow back!" MEN!

Merry Christmas!
Well, it's been awhile since I've posted. I haven't felt like knitting the past few weeks. We've been working hard around here getting ready for Christmas. We had a Sunday School party at my house last week and now we're preparing for my husband's family coming Sunday. The kids are counting down ..... only 3 more days before they get to open presents! We took a pic for our Christmas cards. Naturally, red head cried during the whole process, so we decided on a picture where no one was smiling and put a caption .... "Guess who's on the naughty list". So here's our card picture, and from our family to yours ...... MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Finished with a Christmas present
It's a mermaid! Isn't she cute?? I made it for one of my daughters for Christmas. I don't really like her hair, I think I'll add more later. She's a lot bigger than I expected, too .... probably about 18 inces long; so I couldn't fit her in the picture good. I can't wait till Christmas to see my girl's reaction!

Making applesauce
Applesauce is easy with helpers like these. I bought this food strainer last year and it makes sauce making go fast ..... especially when you have 4 boys that want to do the hard work of turning the crank. It took us only about 2 hours to go through 2 1/2 bushels of apples. We froze 17 quarts of applesauce and I canned 8 pints of apple butter. YUM!

My boy's project
We had to do a weather project for science. Nat chose an anemometer .... it measures how fast the wind is blowing. Of course ...... little bit got into the mess as usual.

Apparently you're pretty smart!
It seems that all who read my blog are geniuses, congratulations!
Although I don't know how accurate this is, since the second time I tried it said my blog was at high school readability. I think I'll stick with genius.

A great yarn shop!
I bought some yarn from a shop called Sonny and Shear (clever, I know). I got my order within 4 days with free shipping. There was even a handwritten note with some hot tea thanking me for my order. I loved dealing with these folks and will definitely order from them again. You can order from them, too, because right now they are offering 20% off (and always free shipping if your order is over $40). Just use the code VETERAN between now and November 17 to get your 20% off!

I've been robbed!
We got a call last night from our bank about some strange debits. It turns out someone got my debit number somehow .... probably at a restaurant or gas station, and went crazy in Brooklyn, NY. $800 crazy!!! It put us negative in our bank account. Hopefully, our bank will refund us our money back, but we won't know anything until Wednesday - that's when they set a time for us to dispute it.
On a happier note, I lost 2 lbs this week with Weight Watchers! That puts me at 16.6 lbs total.

What do you think?
Should I put the worms or not? I think I need more worms, but I finished my skein .... and I'd hate to start the next skein just for a couple more worms. I'm thinking I need to take the worms off and give this hat to Derek for Christmas, bc I think it looks pretty good on him. And it fits him well, too.

I know, I know ....
I have not posted in a while. So there has been a major change in my life - I put the kids in school *GASP* .... and not just any school ..... PUBLIC SCHOOL!!!! I know, I know, I know. Well it was absolutely the best thing for our family - even though Fay wholeheartedly disagrees. HA! Anyway, the younger 3 are loving having their Mommy all to themselves and I'm loving giving myself to them. We are reading more, taking naps together, not blogging together ... it's great!
In other news, praise the Lord, we got rain this week! If you're reading this, please pray for more rain for GA.
I'm on my dh's laptop tonight and don't have my pics on this computer, so I will leave you with a photo from earlier this summer. I came across it earlier and I just love it. It's very rare when we capture an all out smile on Charlie's face - so I love this pic.

My boys can sew!
For school last week, we were supposed to do an "American" art for Geography. They suggested a "quilt", that the boys would cut and glue the squares on a piece of cardboard. I thought, "Why not let them sew it?". They had a lot of fun using my machine and broke nothing. I think we're going to make a pillow out of it.

Dressed in Sunday best
Here is a pic of my baby girl this morning before church. Since a cold front has moved in to Georgia, (I know, I'm exaggerating, but still 10 degrees cooler since last week ..... for those of you not in GA, it's still 94 degrees here today) I thought I'd let her wear her dress. Hopefully she wasn't too hot. It is a cotton yarn; breathable, but still a heavy dress.
Here's the butterfly bow in her hair. It's so cute and was so easy that I'm just going to have to go make some more in different colors. I found another great site with some bow making intructions here.

Like mother, like daughter
My mother told me if she sees a neat craft, she'll overload herself with stuff she doesn't ever use. Well, Mom, look what I bought tonight ..... to make 1 bow.
And here's two that I just made. Not to great, but I guess not bad for my first ever bows. The dragonfly's wings are a little lopsided. Now that I look at the picture, his tail is a little wobbly, too. I like the butterfly better, although it would have looked better with a korker body like it was supposed to have.

Completed dress + it's my anniversary!
Well first off, Happy 12th Anniversary to Derek and me! I got Chocolate! Well, a LG Chocolate cell phone. I think I might be the last person in America to get a cell phone. I got tired of borrowing my friends if I was ever out, and Derek likes to reach me. And here is my present ....
And now for the dress. I have been close to putting the finishing touches on this dress for awhile, but with it being so stinking hot outside; I didn't think she would want to wear it. Although it's made from cotton, it's rather heavy. The pattern came from a book called Knits, Knots, Buttons, and Bows. The pattern called for short sleeves that have the same lace pattern at the bottom, but I chose to make it sleeveless so my girl can wear the dress thru the fall and winter as a jumper.

I am a bad blogger
There, I've said it. I feel like I can't post an entry without a picture, and I'm too darn lazy to walk downstairs to go get my camera to upload my pics. I've finished baby girl's dress and I'm blocking it as I type. It should be dry and ready to wear by tomorrow.
Remember that sock I did earlier? Well I finally started the 2nd sock and I should complete it by week's end. Wow, my first pair almost finished in only 3 months time. Hey, who wants to think about socks when it's 100 degrees outside - not me.
I found (well technically my Mom found the site and sent me the link) the cutest hair bows at Hip Girl Clips. I bought some clips and some ribbon and I'm going to make some clips to match the dress I knit. I don't know if I'll do the dragonfly, butterfly, or rose. What do you think?

dress update
Well, I finished my book in two days. Yes, it was very good and I won't spoil it for you. After the book, I finished the front on Babe's dress and I'm on my way with the back. I'll post a pic later.

Yes, I got it tonight at 12:30!
Well, no knitting progress will be happening this weekend since I got the new Harry Potter! Can't wait to get started on it.

My newest project ...
I've started making a dress for my little one and it's slow going. I tell you, 11 1/2 inches of stockinette stitch is a bore. Here's a pic of some of my progress, I done 2 more inches than this picture shows. The blue I'm using is the same color of her eyes and it will be beautiful!
There's a pretty lace pattern at the bottom of this, but you can't see it very well because it's rolling up.

Finally finished!
Thursday, July 12, 2007
Do you notice the brown wallpaper looking background on my blog? Well I saw cotton material that looks exactly like it at Wal-Mart for $1.00 a yard. I almost couldn't refuse a deal like that, but what would I make with it? Ah well.
I need to post a picture of my socks, I am almost done with my first sock ..... not the first pair, the first sock. I guess I am a very slow sock knitter. Anyway, I think it will be the most comfortable sock ever. I'm having so much fun making it, that I thought I would make my niece and sisters a pair for Christmas. My Mom, however, makes fun of me for putting so much effort into something that I could go buy for $2; so she will not be getting a pair a socks from me. Maybe a hat ... maybe.

another pic
Here's one more pic of the sock in natural light. Funky colors, I know, but I so desperately wanted to try Lorna's Laces and this is one of the few colors Sandra Singh had in stock because of her sale.
my first sock!!!!
I started on a my first sock last month. I thought I'd start with a toddler sock for my little girl. Hey, little socks don't take as long to knit, right? Anyway, I knit the leg up pretty fast than stopped altogether when I got to the heel bc I'm intimidated.
Then I decided to start my second ever sock for me a couple of days ago .... maybe I should finish the first? Anyway, here are my socks......

Oh yes, I'm still alive ......
I haven't written in awhile .... but I haven't knitted, either. I started my first pair of socks, and I got stuck on the heel. So I just stopped altogether. But now that the new summer knitty is out, I'm inspired again. I love the hemp skirt and want to knit something for myselft .... but not sure if it will look good on a pot belly size 12 :).

Just in time for summer .....
I started a new project last night .... the Branching Out scarf. I'm using Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool, but dummy me got the whole skein in one big knot. If I can get it out tonight, I'll post some pics tomorrow.

Almost done!
Here is the latest I've gotten done on the ruffled tank. I think it looks pretty cute without the pink ruffle and was almost not going to put it on .... but then I remembered I have a hole in the pink stripe that I wanted to cover up. I've got 1 armhole almost finished, 1 armhole and neck to finish in the pink. I'm sure I'll be done by the weekend.

I thought I was almost done
Last night I got the front and back of the ruffled tank sewn together. All I have left to do is sew on 2 ruffles in the round. Easy peasy, right? Well it just took me 2 hours to do one round .... my stitches were crazy tight and I had to increase 1 with every stitch. My fingers hurt. So now I'm on my 2nd round (there's 248 stitches now that doubled the size) ... with only 15 more to go. It may be next week before I get this baby finished.
