Wow, what a busy couple of weeks. I haven't had time to blog between my Bejeweled Blitz games and TV premieres.
Last week we celebrated a birthday. My youngest son is 6 years old now! For his birthday dinner he wanted to eat Dominos pizza on the fancy table and have an ice cream cake. It's Charlie's standard birthday cake, and now is John's; both girls have requested it for their upcoming birthdays, too. It's so simple and really good. Want to know the recipe?
- On the bottom of a 9 x 13 dish, put a layer of ice cream sandwiches - you may have to break some to fill the dish up.
- Put 1/2 of a large container of cool whip on top of the sandwiches
- Next, drizzle some caramel over the cool whip
- Do it all again; ice cream sandwiches, the rest of the cool whip, and caramel
- Top with crushed Heath bars.
For some reason, it's hard to find Heath bars in the middle of summer (for Charlie's birthday); one year I found a Lindt toffee bar which was delicious. One year we tried Twix; okay, but not great. This past year we topped it with M & Ms. I don't
recommend those. They are just a tad bit hard to eat when frozen. BUT! With it being Fall and Halloween candy is out already, we were able to find the Heath bars for John's cake.
John was looking forward to spending his birthday with his classmates this year now that he's in Kindergarten. However, there was a flood in Georgia last week and school was closed for two days. I think maybe he decided it was more fun to spend the day laying around watching TV and playing with his toys. No school explains the mop heads you see in the top picture. There is no need to comb your hair or brush your teeth when you don't have to go to school, right?
There is one last thing I would like to point out. Isn't it sad that a mother of six children doesn't keep birthday candles on hand?
