another pic

Here's one more pic of the sock in natural light. Funky colors, I know, but I so desperately wanted to try Lorna's Laces and this is one of the few colors Sandra Singh had in stock because of her sale.

my first sock!!!!

I started on a my first sock last month. I thought I'd start with a toddler sock for my little girl. Hey, little socks don't take as long to knit, right? Anyway, I knit the leg up pretty fast than stopped altogether when I got to the heel bc I'm intimidated.

Then I decided to start my second ever sock for me a couple of days ago .... maybe I should finish the first? Anyway, here are my socks......

Oh yes, I'm still alive ......

I haven't written in awhile .... but I haven't knitted, either. I started my first pair of socks, and I got stuck on the heel. So I just stopped altogether. But now that the new summer knitty is out, I'm inspired again. I love the hemp skirt and want to knit something for myselft .... but not sure if it will look good on a pot belly size 12 :).

Just in time for summer .....

I started a new project last night .... the Branching Out scarf. I'm using Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool, but dummy me got the whole skein in one big knot. If I can get it out tonight, I'll post some pics tomorrow.

done!

Here is the tank finished. I'm supposed to crochet a chain stitch and tie a bow with it at the shoulders. I was thinking of doing it in the blue, but I'm not sure. I might just leave it the way it is.

Almost done!

Here is the latest I've gotten done on the ruffled tank. I think it looks pretty cute without the pink ruffle and was almost not going to put it on .... but then I remembered I have a hole in the pink stripe that I wanted to cover up. I've got 1 armhole almost finished, 1 armhole and neck to finish in the pink. I'm sure I'll be done by the weekend.

I thought I was almost done

Last night I got the front and back of the ruffled tank sewn together. All I have left to do is sew on 2 ruffles in the round. Easy peasy, right? Well it just took me 2 hours to do one round .... my stitches were crazy tight and I had to increase 1 with every stitch. My fingers hurt. So now I'm on my 2nd round (there's 248 stitches now that doubled the size) ... with only 15 more to go. It may be next week before I get this baby finished.

They are crazy tonight

Stacy got the boys wired up tonight at Applebees. Chubby cheeks wants to know when he can spend the night with her. It was real. It was fun. But it wasn't real fun. (I kid, I kid.) Hey, I'm going to work some more on Red's ruffled tank.

Progress on the ruffled tank

Well the back is finished. I only have about 8 more inches to do on the front, then add the ruffles. Hopefully I'll be able to show the finished tank next week. To Nicole, the blog police .... please don't expect entries over the weekend.

Finished!

I'm finished sewing the Monica tank. Isn't it cute???? My very first "real" project, and I'm pleased with it. Except maybe I shouldn't have used a cream color against Red's pale skin. But still very cute.

Crochet, but that's okay!

I wanted to show off a little dress my Aunt made for my girls. Little one is so fast, though, it was hard to get a good shot. There is also another wrap dress my Mom and I made for Red in the Head.

Why??????

What would you do if you found your brand new Pampered Chef scrub brush in the toilet courtesy of your loony 3 year old? (Did I mention it was laying in the toilet along with toilet paper and more than likely a little pee?????)

I'll tell you what I did, thanked him for cleaning the toilet for me ... he really did do a good job. Now the question is, would you keep your scrub brush (it is dishwasher safe), or toss is??

play - DOH!

So I got out all the playdough toys (over the years we've collected lots), only to find we have no play dough. Boy #4 tends to leave it out and let it harden. I found a very easy recipe for homemade that wasn't sticky and nasty like others ones I've tried. Just mix 3 cups flour, 1/2 cup of salt, 2 TB oil, then enough water to make the dough. Not only did the 3 year old enjoy it, but all the kids. Baby sweetcheeks thought it tasted pretty good, too.

Does anyone know how to put my pictures UNDER what I write??? I've got some Lemon Blueberry Bread in the oven, better go and check on it.

The Monica tank

I finished knitting the Monica tank (pattern from www.knitty.com), but I haven't sewn it together, yet. I think it will be really cute when completed. The other pics are of a new tank top I've started. This one seems to be knitting up faster; I'm using size 8 needles and a really thick cotton yarn. Once this one is finished, I'm going to make a Redondo skirt with blue, pink, and green.

Redondo skirt

Here is one of the Redondo skirts I made for Red in the Head. She loves to twirl in it. I bought the pattern from Banberry Place (link to the left).
